B.E.S.T. began in 1997 as a grassroots, multi- sector, community coalition that
represents the villages of Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Heights,
Round Lake Park, and Hainesville, Illinois. Recognizing that youth and
families today face significant challenges, B.E.S.T. incorporated as a not-for
-profit organization in 1999. B.E.S.T. is a unique collaboration of
schools, social services, law enforcement, public library, park district,
various village officials and fire department, civic, business, religious
leaders, parents and students. The primary purpose of B.E.S.T. is to
advocate for services, programs, and resources that will improve the quality of
life for area residents. Volunteer members have a stake in the critical
issues facing the Round Lake Area and in the success of their collaborative
efforts in the work of the coalition members.
In 2011, the B.E.S.T. Coalition was a recipient of a prestigious Governor’s Cup Finalist Award as part of the Governor’s Home Town Award Program in recognition of the B.E.S.T. Community Empowerment Grant Program.
