BEST Community Empowerment Grants Overview
About BEST
The Mission of BEST is to be a coalition of individuals and organizations that networks and collaborates
to respond to community needs, promote character-building community-wide and empower
community members to positively impact the Round Lake Area by
Bringing Everyone’s Strengths Together.
Objective of the Community Empowerment Grants
The Community Empowerment Grants are designed as mini-grants for projects that respond to
community needs and empower community members to positively impact the Round Lake Area.
Eligible Applicants
Eligible applicants will be members of non-profit organizations, community groups, schools and/or
student groups located in, or serving a signification population within, one of the five municipalities that
BEST serves:
Round Lake
Round Lake Beach
Round Lake Heights
Round Lake Park
Hainesville
Principal applicants must be members of BEST.
Examples of Ineligible Projects and Funding Limitations*
Grants will not be made to projects/programs that:
Are for an individual’s benefit.
Are exclusively for evangelical purposes.
Require individuals to participate in religious activities
Discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age,
national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any
of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of
staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services.
*These lists are not all inclusive of eligible and ineligible projects.
Applying for Community Empowerment Grants
Complete and submit an application electronically here. No paper applications will be accepted.
Funding Amounts and Duration
Minimum grant is $50. Grants will be awarded up to $500. Grants may be awarded at less than the
requested amount. Funding is available on a one time basis. Applicants may apply for one grant per
funding cycle.
Funding Decisions
All funding requests are competitive. Funding is limited and not all grant requests will receive funding.
Requests are reviewed by the BEST Community Empowerment Grants Review Committee and are
evaluated based on their strength and ability to meet the objectives of the Community Empowerment
Grants. No entity, regardless of whether or not they have received funding in the past, is guaranteed
funding.
Payment
Payment is made to grant recipients by check. If for any reason you are no longer able to complete the
funded project you must notify and return the full amount of your grant to BEST immediately.
Reporting
Grant recipients may be asked demonstrate the impact of their project by:
Giving a five minute presentations at a BEST committee and/or event.
Taking pictures or short videos for use in BEST promotions.
